Solar Eclipse
03:28
|
|||
You crashed the car when you took the keys from your mother
The look on your face let us know that you were sorry
Came up with a story overheard from your brother
And they replaced it with a '94 red Ferrari
You're not too sure what the future's gonna bring
Waiting on your sweetheart to give you a ring
But he's not showing any signs that he's gonna sway
And graduation's getting closer every day
And now your world's on fire
You can taste it on your lips
Your worries blot out the sun
Just like a solar eclipse
I heard you got rid of all of your pretty dresses
And bought a bus ticket just to go out west
Pretending you don't look just like all the other messes
Always remembering that this is for the best
You're not sure what the future's gonna bring
But you can dance, who gives a damn if you can sing?
So proud of yourself to be on your own
The streets are crowded so you'll never be alone
And now your world's on fire
You can taste it on your lips
Your worries blot out the sun
Just like a solar eclipse
Your broken heart's so mad
You can tell when it splits
You're gonna blot out the sun
Just like a solar eclipse

Constant dreams and aspirations
Tug on my sleeve like a child in need of attention
They're not hard to reach when life's a vacation
But there's not much ease after you leave a house of detention
I want to be a guy who's thorough and have a home in every borough
And impress strangers when I get on the train
Well I can't touch the sky but it still reaches my eye
So not everything's in vain
But all I know is that it takes a lot of time
And I can't rest until I make it mine
I've been told that better is just a point of view
But all my best is just a pair of eyes a longing shade of blue
When I was younger I went and saw the mountains
I thought the heat and the way they lived was so romantic
It was a hell of a summer despite all the shouting
It took me years to realize that things didn't work out the way they planned it
Once I wanted people to cry, they'd wipe a single tear from their eye
All because of something beautiful I'd say
Well it's been some years and I'm all done with tears
So sit on down next to me and I'll help you on your way
But all I know is that it takes a lot of time
And I can't rest until I make it mine
I've been told that better is just a point of view
But all my best is just a pair of eyes a longing shade of blue
Don't give up yet, there's still good times left

Little Doll
04:41
|
|||
Hold on darling, the dawn is coming
And with it brings my weary head
In the morning rain will be falling
If I find another in your bed
Little doll, I'm coming home
Don't know why I waited so long
These spinning wheels pull me along
Little doll, I'm coming home
Another dead night with a busted headlight
But that won't slow me down
I better not hear that music playing, with you doing what they've been saying
When I roll into that town
Little doll, I'm coming home
Don't know why I waited so long
You've been doing me wrong
Little doll, I'm coming home
The morning sun burns as I take the last turn
With my mind set on your tricks
If he ain't gone and you're not alone
That's nothing that my .44 won't fix
Little doll, I'm coming home
Shouldn't have waited so long
When I lay my hand it comes down strong
Little doll, I'm coming home

How I Roll
02:47
|

She's the kind of girl who's not what she seems
As loose with her lips as she is with her dreams
You know the type
She moves very quickly from man to man
Some might call her a flash in the pan
But that's all right
Not everybody's as perfect as you
Not everybody knows what they want to do
I've got a piece of crap phone and a piece of crap bike
And a piece of crap home where I live my life
That's how I roll
But every now and then I get a little sad
'Cause I could die a million ways all very bad
And no one would ever know
Not everybody's as lucky as you
Not everybody has the same things to go through
There's a place downtown where you can go at night
You can listen to the sounds while you see the sights
And everyone is near
And even things don't go your way
The people there let you know it's all okay
And sometimes that's all you need to hear
Not everybody's as angry as you
Not everybody wants to walk around feeling blue

Winter
03:08
|

Walking through the park shaking hands with trees
I've got no worries, they can't bother me
It's cold outside and I can feel the breeze
But I've got my cigarettes, my own source of heat
Walking 'round in circles will get you nowhere
But it's a great way to waste some time
Well I've done some soul searching and I've found
I think that's fine
I've got nothing
I've got nothing but time
You see my problem is
My mouth goes off like a gun
But if it gets me into too much trouble
I can always just run
Running 'round in circles gets you nowhere fast
And it's sure to leave you short of breath
Well if that means breathing no cold air
I'd run until there's nothing left
But I think for now
I think that for now that I'll just catch my breath
It's just like the sound
Of when a cigarette hits the water
The sizzling, fizzling out sounds like a
Lamb to the slaughter
But I can't get worked up
Over every little thing
I'll put myself back together
And I'll try again next spring
